Explanation:

given the equation

3(y + 2) = y + 6 ← distribute parenthesis on left side

3y + 6 = y + 6 ( subtract y from both sides )

2y + 6 = 6 ( subtract 6 from both sides )

2y = 0 ⇒ y = 0

the solution is y = 0
