Given the function f(x)=x^(2)-5x-7, when f(x) = 0

x^(2)-5x-7 = 0

Using the general formula

x = 5±√5²-4(-7)/21(1)

x= 5±√25+28/2

x = 5±√53/2

x = -5±7.28/2

x = 5+7.28/2 and 5-7.28/2

x = 12.28/2 and -2.28/2

x = 6.14 and -1.14

Hence the positive zero is 6.14
