Match each equation to its solution.

4.5x – 7 = 20
2x + 3 = -7
-3x + 7 = 28
x=6
x=-7
x=-5

Well for the first equation: 4.5x = 27 (we have moved the -7 across by adding it to both sides)

Then we will divide 27 by 4.5 to find x:
x = 6

Equation #2: let’s move that three across by subtracting from both sides:
2x = -10
Now we divide both sides by 2 to find x:
x = -5

We can eliminate now to find the third one, but let’s solve it anyway by substituting the known value of x in:

(-3 X -7) + 7 = 28
[two negatives multiplied together make a positive]

21 + 7 = 28

Yes it does indeed!

I hope I have helped you. Best of luck with your studies!
