Speed is known as the distance covered per unit time.It is a scalar quantity. Unit of speed is m/s.

It has only magnitude, direction is not specified.

An object is said to be in uniform speed or motion if it covers equal distance in equal intervals of time.

The formula to find speed is

Suppose we take an example that distance is 100km and time is 5 hour

So speed will be

`\frac{ { \cancel{100}} \: \: ^(20) }{ \cancel5} \\`

speed is 20 km/ hr.

Know more:

• If distance is in metre and time is in hour. Then you'll follow the formula and simplify. After simplifying, you'll multiply it by 18/5
• If it's given in km and other in m then after simplifying multiply it by 5/18 to get speed in km/hr.
• Formula to find distance = speed×time
• Formula to find time=Distance/ speed
