Answer:

y - 5 = 3(x - 2) and y = 3x - 1

Explanation:

the equation of a line in point- slope form is

y - b = m(x - a)

m is the slope and (a, b ) a point on the line

here slope m = 3 and (a, b ) = (2, 5 )

substitute these values into the point- slope equation

y - 5 = 3(x - 2) ← in point- slope form

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

from the point- slope equation above

y - 5 = 3(x - 2) ← distribute parenthesis by 3

y - 5 = 3x - 6 ( add 5 to both sides )

y = 3x - 1 ← in slope- intercept form
