The cause of world war 2 depicted in this cartoon is appeasement. Appeasement is a tactic that the Allies used to try to prevent war as the they were still recovering from the first world war. They would have meetings with Hitler where they would give other surrounding countries land to the Nazis. They continued bargaining others land until they owned quite a bit but wanted more. They wanted to invaded poland but the allies warned Hitler that an invasion of poland would mean war. He didn't listen.
