The median of a trapezoid is a straight line that goes from the midpoint of one of the sides to the midpoint of the opposite side and is parallel to both bases.

Its length is the average of the lengths of both bases:

median=((upper.base+lower.base))/(2)

One of the bases of the trapezoid has a length of 18 units and the other base has a length of 40 units. Average both bases to determine the length of the median:

\begin{gathered} median=(18+40)/(2) \\ median=(58)/(2) \\ median=29 \end{gathered}

The length of the median is 29 units.
