for (-1) it is 8 and for (1) it is 0

Explanation:

p(-1) = (-1)^2 -4(-1) +3 = 1 + 4 +3 = 8

similarly for (1)

p(1) = (1)^2 -4(1) + 3 = 4 - 4 = 0
