Explanation:

it does not matter that a number is expressed by a function. it is still just that : a number.

we could also write

f(b) = x

when x is large, then 1/x is small.

examples :

x = 2, 1/x is then 1/2 = 0.5

x = 1000, 1/x is then 1/1000 = 0.001

and so on.

the larger we make x, the smaller 1/x gets.

and the smaller we make x (relative to 0), the larger 1/x gets.

e.g. x = 0.1, 1/x = 1/0.1 = 1/1/10 = 1/1 / 1/10 = 10
