In a store window, there was a box of berries having a total weight of $200$ kg. The berries were $95\%$ water, by weight. After two days in the sun, the water content of the berries was only $90\%$, by weight. What was the total weight of the berries after two days, in kg?

Explanation:

weight of berries = 200 kg

water in berries = 95%

after two days

water in berries = 90%

weight of berries after two days = ?

let x be the weight of water in berries i.e.

95% of x = 200

x * 95/100 = 200

95x = 20000

x = 20000/95 = 210.53

90% of 210.53 = 210.53 * 90/100

= 189.5 kg

thus,

the total weight of berries after two days = 189.5 kg
