Water boils at 100 °C at sea level but boils at 96 °C in the lab. Write the reason behind it.

Answer:

Perhaps the lab is not at sea level. A barometer that reads 760 mm of mercury at sea level may only register 720 mm if the barometer is located in a mountainous region. Water that boils at 100 deg C at sea level will boil at a lower temperature at higher elevations.
