Ok so (-2)^3 means -2 x -2 x -2

Now -2 x -2 = 4
Because minus into minus is plus

4 x -2 = -8
Because minus into plus is minus

Therefore, we can see that -2 x -2 x -2 = -8

Which is the same as saying (-2)^3 = -8
