Answer is x = 15
4x + 14 + 8x -14 = 180
Add/subtract x terms and non x terms
12x = 180
x = 180/12 = 15
Check if answer is right by putting x = 15 back into original equation and seeing if it equals 180
4(15) + 14 + 8(15) -14 = 180
Answer is correct.
