A square has an area of 64 square units. If it’s sides were only half as long,

what would it’s area be?

Answer:

The area would be 32

Explanation:

Since we know a square has 4 equal sides we need to divide

64 by 4.

64 \ 4 = 16 (length of each side)

Since we now know each side has a length of 16 we have to

get the value that is half of 16.

16 \ 2 = 8 (length of each side when half as long)

area = 8 x 4 =32

The answer is 32
