SAFETY

1. Use care with the hot plate. Make sure the cord is not wound around the hot plate. Unplug the
hot plate when you are not using it.
2. Avoid having hot water splatter: Don't fill the beaker full. Get water "just on the boil" not a
rolling boil.
3. Use tongs to move the beaker once it is hot.
4. Don't rest the thermometer on the bottom of the beaker.
5. Leave the water bath set up. (Turn the hot plate off and unplug the cord, but leave the hot
water in the beaker; you'll need a water bath later in the lab.)

Step-by-step explanation:

Write true if the statement is correct and write false if the statement is incorrect

1. For two ordered pairs (a, b) and (c, d) (a, b) = (c, d) if and only if b = c and a = d

2. The domain of the relation R=\ (x, y) x \in \mathbb{R} Randy = x+1) is R.3. Any vertical line intersects the graph of a function exactly once.

4. The range of f(x) = x ^ n for an even natural number n is R.

Choose the correct answer

5. Given R=\ (1, 2), (2, b), (3, d), (5, 4) ,then which one of the following is the domain of

R ^ (- 1')

A. (1,2,3,5)

B. \{2, b, d, 4\}

6. Which of the following is not power function?

A. f(x) = x ^ sqrt(2)

B. g(x) = sqrt(3) * x ^ sigma

7. Which of the following relation is a function?

A R_{1} = \{(- 2, 1), (1, 2), (3, - 1), (1, 3), (2, 3)\}

B. R_{2} = \{(- 2, 1), (1, 3), (3, - 1), (2, 2), (2, 2)\} ))

C. R_{1} = \{(1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3), (2, 3)\}

D. R 2 =\ (x, y) / x, y \in \mathbb{R} and x ^ 2 + y ^ 2 = 1 )

8. Let f(x) = x ^ (1/4) and g(x) = x ^ (1/6) , then which one of the following is false?

A. The domain off and g is [0, ∞)B. The range of f and gis[0, ∞)

9. Let R=\ (x, y) / x , ye Rand y >= x - 4 and y <= x + 3 \ then which one of the

following is R ^ - 1 ?

A. R^ -1 =\ (x, y) / x, y \in \mathbb{R} y>= x+ 4and mathfrak y >= x - 3 \B. R^ -1 =\ (x, y) / x, y \in \mathbb{R} and y >= x - 4andy >= x + 3 \

C. R^ -1 =\ (x, y) / x, y \in \mathbb{R} y <= x + 4 and y >= x - 3 \

D. R^ -1 =\ (x, y) / x, y \in \mathbb{R} y >= - x + 4 and y >= - x - 3 \
