Answer:

48%

Explanation:

In the beginning:

4/5 of a can is 40% red and 60% blue.

Assume the can holds 10 liters.

4/5 of 10 liters is 8 liters. There are 8 liters of purple paint.

Red: 40% of 8 liters = 3.2 liters

Blue: 60% of 8 liters = 4.8 liters

Total paint: 3.2 L + 4.8 L = 8 L

After the painter fills the can:

The can holds 10 liters but was only filled 4/5, or 8 liters.

He fills the rest of the can, so he adds 2 liters of red paint.

Now:

Red: 3.2 liters + 2 liters = 5.2 liters

Blue: 4.8 liters

Total: 5.2 L + 4.8 L = 10 L

Percent of blue:

percent = part/whole × 100%

percent = 4.8/10 × 100%

percent = 48%

Answer: 48%
