Her first mistake was not gettin rid of the 4 at the beginning by dividing both sides by 4

Here is the solution


4(x - 2) {}^(2 \\) = 16

divide both sides by four


(x - 2) {}^(2) = 4

then square root both sides


\sqrt{(x - 2) {}^(2) } = √(4)

then you get the final section


x - 2 = ( + )/( - ) 2

the solve for X


x - 2 = - 2 \\ x = - 2 + 2 \\ x = 0

or


x - 2 = 2 \\ x = 2 + 2 \\ x = 4
