Terms are variables, the number connected to the term is called the coefficient, the variable does not need a coefficient to be considered a term. There are 5 terms in a (9x,4y,7x,8w,t) 3 terms in b (Ab,3a,4b) and 3 terms in c (25a,9bc,8def).

Notice how there are multiple variables in sets b and c. Do not get confused into thinking these are multiple terms, they are one. A term is a single expression with one or more variables that are multiplied but never added or subtracted. Ex: abc is one term but 3 variables.
