2y^2 (squared)?
Plug 5 in for “y”
7+2(5)^2
PEMDAS/GEMDAS
1. exponents first
5^2=25
2. multiply
25 times 2=50
3. add
50+7= 57

If not exponent: 7+2y(2)
1. plug in 5 for y
2 times 5= 10

2. multiply by 2
10 times 2=20

3. add
20+7=27

Answer:

57

Explanation:

Remember when an exponent is given and says to solve for any variable, you will plug the number in the variable ( the number given for the variable ) and first solve for exponent. Then solve the rest. Hope this helps, thank you !!
