To pay for parking. There is an

automatic fee of $11 just to enter the
parking lot, and when she leaves the lot,
she will have to pay an additional $2 for
every hour she had her car in the lot.
How much total money would Malika
have to pay for parking if she left her
car in the lot for 3 hours? How much
would Malika have to pay if she left her
car in the lot for t hours?

Answer:

1. She would have to pay 17$ total if she was there for 3 hours

2. 2t + 11 = total money

Explanation:

1. So to start, she has to pay 11$ just to get in, so her total is 11$. But then, she has to pay 2$ for every hour she's there. So if he stays there for 3 hours, that's 3(hours) x 2$, which is 6$. So now you have to add the old total to the amount of money she had to pay to stay in the parking lot. So 11$ + 6$ which is 17$.

2. t = hours and if it's 2$ per hour then the equation is 2 x whatever hours, so 2t. But if you have to pay 11$ beforehand then you just add that to the equation, so it's 2t + 11.
