I need help with this, I don’t understand how I’m supposed to find m and n-example-1

Answer: n = 45 degrees; m = 67.5 degrees

Explanation:

Since the 2 legs of the right triangle are equal (they each have one line on them), then the 2 acute angles of that triangle have to be 45 degrees. (Remember, the angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees, so you have your right angle which is 90 degrees, and then 2 equal angles that have to add up to 90 which makes them each 45 degrees.)

Then you see that 2 of your angles are equal, each marked with one arc. We know the one next to angle m is equal to 45 degrees, which means the angle in the upper left of the diagram is also 45 degrees. In the left triangle, 2 of those sides are each marked with 2 lines meaning they are equal which means the 2 base angles of that isosceles triangle are also equal. Since the angles of the triangle have to add up to 180, then we know that 45 + m + m = 180.

Subtract 45 from both sides and combine your m's

2m = 135

Divide both sides by 2

m = 67.5 degrees
