Graph 3/5 and 9/10 on the number line.

<|—|——|——|——|——|——|——|—————-|>
0 1/10 2/10 3/10 4/10 5/10 6/10 7/10 8/10 9/10 1

(5/10 is in the middle four on one side four on the other so which two fractions do I dot?)

Write an inequality comparing 3/5 and 9/10.

ChooseIt’s either: 9/10 > 3/5 or 9/10 < 3/5

Answer:

See explanation below
For second part 9/10 > 3/5

Explanation:

Well 9/10 is clearly marked so you can mark that directly

Since the number line has values with the same denominator 10, adjust 3/5 to have the same denominator. This can be done by multiplying numerator and denominator by 2 without changing the original value of 3/5

(3 \cdot 2)/(5 \cdot 2) = (6)/(10)

So 6/10 is your other point

Since 6/10 < 9/10 that means 3/5 < 9/10 or alternatively
9/10 > 3/5

We can also see this directly on the number line by seeing that 9/10 iis farther to the right of 6/10 on the positive segment of the number line
