Hey I think this is a chemistry question more than a biology one but I can still answer it.

The two main types of chemical bonds are covalent and ionic.

Covalent bonds involve sharing of electrons and generally form between nonmetallic atoms.

Ionic bonds involve the transfer of electrons between atoms. This transfer creates ions. Typically ionic bonds form between a metal and a nonmetal. The metal loses electrons and becomes positively charged (a cation), and the nonmetal accepts electrons to become negatively charged (an anion).
