Answer:

Susan had 25 minutes between finishing her homework and her volleyball practice.

Explanation:

Obviously, we can't add 96 (Minutes) to 1:59, it simply wouldn't make any sense, it wouldn't give us a real time.

So, we have to first convert 96 minutes into hours. We know that one hour is 60 minutes. Since 96 is much larger than 60, naturally, 96 minutes is equivalent to more than one hour. 60 minutes (1 hour) multiplied 2, would be 120 minutes, two hours, and since 96 isn't greater than 120 there must be some additional minutes below an hour.

96 minutes - 60 minutes (1 hour) = 36 minutes

So Susan took an hour and 36 minutes doing her homework. What time did she finish?

Well, she started at 1:59, so from our 1:36 we can add our one hour (1:00) to 1:59. We get 2:59, we still have 36 minutes to add, and if we do, we get 3:35.

Susan finishes her homework at 3:35 with her volleyball practice at 4:00. We can simply subtract the two to get our buffer time, so...

4:00 - 3:35 = 25 minutes

Answer: 25 minutes
