A concrete truck is loaded with 9 2/3 cubic feet of concrete. The driver delivers 3 2/3 cubic feet of concrete at the first stop and 4 3/4 cubic feet at the second stop. At the third stop he picks up 5 cubic feet of concrete not wanted by the customer. How much concrete is on the truck after the third stop?

Answer: 6.25 cubic feet of concrete

Explanation:

Since the driver delivered 3 2/3 cubic feet of concrete at the first stop, the amount of concrete left on the truck after the first stop would be 9 2/3 minus 3 2/3.

9 2/3 - 3 2/3 = 6 cubic feet

The amount of concrete left on the truck after the second stop would be 6 minus 4 3/4.

6 - 4 3/4 = 1 1/4

Now, we add 5 cubic feet to find the amount of concrete on the truck after the third stop.

1 1/4 + 5 = 6 1/4 or 6.25 cubic feet of concrete
