So from the start you would add 1 to both sides cancelling out the 1 and adding the 1 to the 9 would make 10 from there you would divide the 2x by 2 and the 10 by 2 meaning x would be equal to 5

Answer:

x = -5

x = 4

(make sure you entered -5 in the first box, then 4 in the 2nd box)

Explanation:

|2x+1| = 9

There are 2 ways that this could be true - - -

2x + 1 = 9 OR 2x+1 = -9

Solve for x for both of those equations.

2x+1 = 9

2x = 8

x = 4

2x+1 = -9

2x = -10

x = -5
