Answer:

Each person brought $10 to the fair

Explanation:

let x = amount each person brought to the fair

Donavon + 3 friends = 4 people

(4x)/2 - $3(4) - $8 = 0

Each of the 4 people spent half their starting money on rides, then $3 each on food, with $8 leftover total.

Solve for x:

2x - 12 - 8 = 0

2x = 20

x = 20/2 = 10

Check the answer:

$10(4 people) - ($10/2)(4 people) - $3(4 people) = $40 - $20 - $12 = $8 left

answer is correct!
