4x - 36 = x + 9 ( subtract x from both sides )

3x - 36 = 9 ( add 36 to both sides )

3x = 45 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 15

Then

∠ (x + 9) = 15 + 9 = 24°

∠ (4x - 36) = 4(15) - 36 = 60 - 36 = 24°
