y = 5x - 7

Explanation:

Parallel lines have the same slope.

So the equation is y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

The equation of the parallel line will also have a slope of 5.

y = 5x + b

Plug in (0,-7) to find b.*

y = 5x + b

-7 = 5(0) + b

-7 = 0 + b

-7 = b

* (you can actually see that (0,-7) gives us the y intercept!)

y = 5x - 7
