240 people.

Explanation:

When the train arrived in London there were 318 people.

If 134 of those people didn't get on the train until Slough they need to be subtracted from that number. 318-134=184.

At Slough there were also 56 people who didn't go all they way to London and got off the train, these people need to be added. 184+56=240.

So we now know that 240 people were on the train when it left Oxford.
