Answer:

AB = 22 units

Explanation:

the perimeter (P) of a rectangle is calculated as

P = 2(length + width )

given P = 74 , length = AB = 4y + 2 , width = BC = 3y

substitute these values into the formula for P

74 = 2(4y + 2 + 3y)

74 = 2(7y + 2) ← divide both sides by 2

37 = 7y + 2 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

35 = 7y ( divide both sides by 7 )

5 = y

Then

AB = 4y + 2 = 4(5) + 2 = 20 + 2 = 22 units
