Answer:

Kathy can give gifts to 8 friends.

Explanation:

First, convert the mixed number 6 2/3 into an improper fraction:

6 2/3 = (3 * 6 + 2) / 3 = (18 + 2) / 3 = 20/3 yards of material.

Each project requires 3/4 of a yard of material.

Now, calculate how many projects Kathy can make with the available material by dividing the total material (20/3 yards) by the material required per project (3/4 yards):

(20/3) / (3/4) = (20/3) * (4/3) = (20 * 4) / (3 * 3) = 80/9.

Since you can't make a fraction of a craft project, round down to the nearest whole number. Kathy can give gifts to 8 friends with the available material.
