Hello. I'm here to help you.

Which expression shows how to write 0.005 as a single digit times a power of ten?

A. 5×10−2

B. 5×10−3

C. 5×103

D. 5×104

Alright first we need to understand that 0.005 is less than 1

1 > 0.005

We can eliminate 2 answers already. (C) and (D) because their product is going to be greater than 1 and by looking at the multiplier it is 103 and 104 it is greater than 1 so no.

We now left with (A) and (B) and doing decimal questions we have to solve the root first.

10^-2 = 0.01 it is because we are going back 2 spaces so its from 10 to 0.10 then 0.01 you may write it on a note book or piece of paper to better visualize what I meant here. We now can multiply 0.01 and 5 to see what we get. 0.01(5) clearly we will get 0.05. If you don't know how to do it in decimal way we can do in fraction.

0.01 = 1/100

5 = 5/1

= 5/1 (1/100)

=5/100

= 5 divided by 100 we get 0.05.

And we can do comparing again or just basically look at it. It's wrong.

0.05 > 0.005

Leaving it out with 5 x 10^-3.

5 x 0.001 which we follow the same method we should get 0.005

Therefore its answer (B) 5×10−3 0.005 = 0.005.

Have a nice day.
