Answer:

y = 3x + 6

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given the line with equation

y = 3x + 4 ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = 3

Parallel lines have equal slopes , then

y = 3x + c ← is the partial equation of the parallel line

to find c , substitute the point (2, 12 ) for x and y into the partial equation

12 = 3(2) + c = 6 + c ( subtract 6 from both sides )

6 = c

y = 3x + 6 ← equation of parallel line
