A worker is paid £500 per week if he works 40 hours. How much should he receive if he works only 32 hours? pls tell me how to do it using inverse proportion

Answer: £400

Work Shown

(500 pounds)/(40 hours) = (x pounds)/(32 hours)

500/40 = x/32

500*32 = 40x

x = 500*32/40

x = 400

Another approach

The worker earns £500 when working 40 hours. The unit rate is £12.50 per hour because 500/40 = 12.5

Working 32 hours means he earns 12.5*32 = 400 pounds
