To solve this inequality, first we apply the multiplication on both sides of the inequality:

-1/4(d+1) < 2

by multiplying by 4,

we have:

-1(d+1) < 8

then by multiplying by -1 ,

we change the sign of the inequality:

d+1 > -8

By subtracting 1 from both sides of the inequality, we have:

d > -9

The answer to the inequality is

d > -9.
