Answer :

4.1 x 10^6 ft

Solution:

It's given to us that half of the field is used to grow crops which means that half of the area of the field is used to grow the crops so in order to find the land on which the crops were ploughed,we will find the area of the field and divide it by 2 making it half of the total area of the field.

  • area of a rectangle = length x width
  • area of the field = 3.3 x 10^3 ft x 2.5 x 10^3 ft
  • area of the field = 3.3 x 2.5 x 10^3 x 10^3 ft
  • area of the field = 8.25 x 10^6 ft

since the land on which the crops are grown is half of the total area of the field, thus, it's measure would be half of the total area of the field

  • (8.25 x 10^6 ft ) / 2
  • 4.125 x 10^ 6 ft

Since ,the original dimensions has 2 significant digits ( 3.3 and 2.5) ,thus, we will round the area to 2 significant digits.

Therefore, 4.1 x 10^6 ft is the area which is used to grow crops.
