-\text{x}-8 \le 16\\\\-\text{x} \le 16+8\\\\-\text{x} \le 24\\\\\text{x} \ge 24/(-1) \ \ \text{ see note}\\\\\text{x} \ge -24\\\\

Note: The inequality sign flips when we divide both sides by a negative number. The same happens when we multiply both sides by a negative number.
