Explanation:

From the diagram we have,

Chords AB and CD are equidistant from the centre of the circle

I.e. at a distance of 5 units from the centre each

Thus from your theorem

Equidistant chords of a circle are equal in length we get

Length of AB= length of CD= 12 units

Also by theorem perpendicular from centre of circle to chord bisects it

Thus AE= EB

But AE+EB= 12

=>EB= 6 units....(ans)
