One significant result of the war was the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of Turkey, as a nation state. Other parts of the world also experienced some changes although not for the better; In Africa Britain and France took over Germanys colonies. Despite Indian soldiers contributing to a higher percentage of casualties compared to Americans, during World War I India did not achieve meaningful independence. Its disheartening to see how little progress was made globally.
