Answer:

length = 14 ft , width = 10 ft

Explanation:

the ratio of length : width = 7 : 5 = 7x : 5x ( x is a multiplier )

the perimeter (P ) of a rectangle is calculated as

P = 2(length + width )

given P = 48 ft

substitute values for P, length and width into the formula for P

48 = 2(7x + 5x) ← divide both sides by 2

24 = 7x + 5x

24 = 12x ( divide both sides by 12 )

2 = x

Then

length = 7x = 7 × 2 = 14 ft

width = 5x = 5 × 2 = 10 ft
