Get y by itself so 2y = 2x + 6
Then divide by 2 to get y by itself
y = x + 6
Plug x + 6 in for y for any of the 2 equations
7x + 4(x+6) = 23
Distribute the 4
11x + 24 = 23
Move the 24 over to get 11x alone
11x = -1
Divide by 11 to get x by itself
x = -1/11
Plug -1/11 in for x in the other equation to solve for y
-2(-1/11) + 2y = 6
Distribute the -2
2/11 + 2y = 6
Move the 2/11 to the other side to get 2y by itself
2y = 64/11
Divide by 2 to get y by itself
y = 32/11
