4(x - 8)² + 11 = 15 ( subtract 11 from both sides )

4(x - 8)² = 4 ( divide both sides by 4 )

(x - 8)² = 1 ( take square root of both sides )


√((x-8)^2) = ±
√(1) , that is

x - 8 = ± 1 ( add 8 to both sides )

x = 8 ± 1

Then

x =8 - 1 = 7

x = 8 + 1 = 9
