what is one reason that a synonymous definition cannot be used to produce a stipulative definition? since the definiendum in a stipulative definition has no prior meaning, it is not possible to find a synonym for it. a synonymous definition is the same thing as a stipulative definition. since the definiendum of a synonymous definition has no prior meaning, any synonymous definition will render other words meaningless also. there is no such thing as a synonymous definition.

The reason that a synonymous definition cannot be used to produce a stipulative definition is that the definiendum in a stipulative definition has no prior meaning, whereas a synonymous definition relies on the prior meaning of a different word to convey the same definition. Therefore, using a synonymous definition would not be effective in creating a new definition since it would not convey the unique meaning intended by the stipulative definition.
