Answer:

x = 0.286

Explanation:

We start with your equation:

(1)/(2)x + 3 = -4x + 15x

Since we are solving for x , we want to isolate all the x's to one side

(1)/(2)x [-(1)/(2)x] + 3 = -4x + 15x [-(1)/(2)x]

leaving us with

3=-4x + 15x - (1)/(2) x

then combine like terms

3= 10.5 x

Divide both sides by 10.5 to find X

3[/10.5]= 10.5[/10.5] x

x = 0.286

*I've left it at 3, but you can divide 3 by 10.5 to get as many significant digits as you need!
