(x+2)^2=-16 This equation had no solution, why not?

Explanation:

The normalized form of the equation

(x+2)^2= - 16

x^2 + 4x + 4 = - 16

x^2 + 4x + 20 = 0

We have in the form ax^2 + abx + c = 0

a = 1

b = 4

c = 20

Discriminant is b^2 - 4ac = 4^2 - 4*1*20 = 16 - 80 = - 64

Discriminant is negative, therefore, no Real solutions.
