(x^2+28x+196)+x^2=484


2x^2+28x+196=484


2x^2+28x-288=0


x^2+14x-144=0

Using quadratic formula,


x=(-b\pm √(b^2-4ac) )/(2a)


x=(-14\pm √((14^2-4*1*(-144)) )/(2*1)


=(-14\pm √((196+576) )/(2)


=(-14\pm 2√(193) )/(2)


=-7\pm√(193)


=-7\pm13.89


=6.89 ,-20.89 (-20.89 is not useful...cannot have a negative length for

radius)

Solution: radius is 6.89
