Answer is f(x) = 2

Step by step

The instructions say to graph so I did. The x values where the line crosses the x axis are x= 2 and x=0.

To prove algebraically
Substitute the value of x into your equation

x = 2
f(x) = 5/2x - 5
f(x) = 5/2x = 5
f(x) = 5/2(2) = 5
f(x) = 10/2 = 5
f(x) = 5 = 5
Solution is true

x = 0
f(x) = 5/2x - 5
f(x) = 5/2x = 5
f(x) = 5/2(0) = 5
f(x) = 0 = 5
Solution is NOT true

So your answer is f(x) = 2

If you solved y= 5/2x -5
Change equation to standard form
-5/2x + y = -5
Substitute 0 for y and solve for x

-5/2x + (0) = -5
Divide both sides by -5/2 by inverse (flipping) the fraction and multiplying

-5/2 * -2/5 x = -5 * -2/5
Simplify

x = 2
