Jillian needs to cross a stream that is 4 1⁄4 yards wide. She wants to use a nearby log which is 11 feet long. Is the log long enough to reach from one end of the stream to the other?

First, let's convert the length of the log to yards, since the width of the stream is given in yards:

11 feet = 11/3 yards (since 1 yard = 3 feet)

Now we can check if the log is long enough to cross the stream:

11/3 yards = 3 2/3 yards

Since 3 2/3 yards is longer than 4 1/4 yards, the log is long enough to reach from one end of the stream to the other.
