Answer:

Friday, October 29, 1943

The sound of thunder is echoing throughout the annex. Raindrops are hammering down hard on the roof, and the wind is growling like a beast. I am immensely grateful to have found shelter with everyone during these turbulent times. The thought of being out there, exposed to the elements and the perils lurking in the shadows, sends shivers down my spine.

Peter's pacing next door is becoming quite irritating. He's been restless lately, and it's not just the cramped quarters or the constant fear of being discovered that's bothering him. Maybe it's something more profound than that. I should try talking to him, but I fear that might only make things worse.

It feels surreal that we've been hiding here for over a year now. Time moves differently in the annex. Sometimes it feels like an eternity has passed since we first arrived, and other times it feels like just yesterday. I miss my family and the life I used to lead, but those memories are nothing but a distant dream now.

Response:

I decided to rewrite Friday, October 29, 1943, from Mr. Dussel's perspective, focusing on his observations and thoughts. I tried to adopt his viewpoint by using first-person pronouns and imagining how he would realistically describe events in the annex. By emphasizing on the external weather conditions, I aimed to highlight Mr. Dussel's appreciation of the security provided by the annex. His annoyance towards Peter's pacing behavior indicates his attention to detail and his ability to read the mood of the people around him. Furthermore, the passage conveys a sense of surrealism and detachment from reality that aligns with Mr. Dussel's character.
